TPLO Surgery for Lab …. T-1 day

Tomorrow our yellow lab visits the surgeon to repair his blown cranial cruciate ligament with TPLO surgery. He also has a heart condition so we’ve had extra visits to the vet and a canine cardiac specialist for recommendations to make his surgery as safe as possible.

Today, I am prepping some people supplies as I’ve heard that the first few days are fairly stressful. We want everything to be ready and easy so that we can focus our attention on helping Yellow Lab be as safe and comfortable as possible.

  • Meals
    • Lasagna
    • Coconut Lime Chicken with Rice
    • Ground Turkey – Couscous patties
    • Pre-cooked Bacon for Sandwiches
  • Snacks
    • Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies
    • Banana-apple bread
    • M&M’s
  • Fruit and Vegetables
    • carrot sticks
    • celery sticks
    • cucmber slices
    • cherry tomatoes
    • ranch dressing

We also are setting up a waterproof barrier under Yellow Lab’s enclosure, adding pee pads under a blanket on his be, and putting in a water station for him.

We have created a support sling by cutting the sides out of a cloth grocery tote. We’ll use this to help him get to his feet, walk (if he needs it) and manuver down the one step to the potty yard

We filled out all of the surgical consent forms, made a payment for the surgery, and spoke to the vet tech about some questions and additional information. We need to bring in his medications and supplements along with a list of when his last dose was.
We’ll also wet up the car tonight with pee pads and blankets
